A few years ago, my brothers bought Leto a bicycle. The problem was that he was too small to ride it. Now that he is 5, and we finally went and bought the boys some helmets (the law here), we decided to teach the boys how to ride the bike. I had to try to clean up the bike a bit because it did survive Hurricane Irene in my parents’ basement. The boys shared a low rider trike bike for a while, but we figured it is good to get Leto riding a bike now that he fits his bike and is getting older. Rob pumped up the tires and we headed out to a dead end road where I constantly rode my bike “Sweet Thunder” as a child (you know you want to see what my bike looked like, so go click on that link).
Leto started riding the bike and had to adjust to looking up while riding it. After a few tries and about half an hour, he was having a great time and doing a great job. He didn’t ride it for a half an hour straight, because we made sure Micah would get a chance to try too. The problem he had was that he was SO ready to just go off on that bike without a problem, except that his legs are a little short still, so he would have to fling the pedals hard to reach them again (which he seemed to do a little of). Hopefully next year we’ll be able to afford to get Micah a bike so they can ride together! Micah seemed a little bored and wanted to go but Leto wanted to keep riding his bike. Poor Micah. He eventually started to run and follow Leto as Leto rode his bike, so that made things less boring for him. After about an hour outside it started raining, but the boys had a good time.

this is adorable! oh my gosh too much cute! it must be great to see your child grow up and get a bike!

It is really cool to watch them go from those little tricycles and into a two-wheeled bike. Of course in time the training wheels will come off and it will be so incredible to see! Thanks.
AW!! My little brother Liam (9 yrs old) is still learning to ride a bike. He is very small for his age, so the kids who live by my parents are all on bigger bikes, leaving him in the dirt! Right now, he is riding around on one training wheel
I am glad that both of your boys are learning, looks fun!
Aw, poor Liam. That is really interesting, but everyone learns at their own pace!!! I hope that no one makes fun of him for his training wheel. He’ll be without it in no time, I’m sure!
Sweet thunder is SWEET! Nice wheels there.
The boys look like they’re having a great time with Rob. Before you know it, they’ll be off bike riding around the neighborhood, and you or Rob will be at home waiting for them to return with their stories of fun and adventure. Great times ahead for you all!
Tim
Thanks! It will be fun seeing them grow!
how much more adorable could they get?
Awww! First bike rides!! What fun memories! They are just precious…and I love their fun helmets!! My first bike was purple, I think…I wish I could remember what kind it was. I have such fun memories of riding it in my neighborhood, with my little overnight bag hanging on the handlebars, packed to spend the night with my best friend who lived down the street.
p.s. Sweet Thunder is pretty SWEEEEEEEET!!!
purple bikes sound better than pink ones to me. my bike I got in 3rd grade was purple and green. hehe. That is so cute that you could ride to your best friend’s house to sleep over!!!
How wonderful! Those boys are growing up so fast.
The adorableness just doesn’t stop around here
I can’t wait till my son gets to the age where he can learn to ride. Both of your boys look so grown up here! xo Marisa
They are getting more grown up, but it is so much fun!! I look forward to seeing when your son gets on his future bike too.
