International Justice Mission is an amazing organization that fights human trafficking and helps bring justice to the oppressed & slaves around the world. They help train police and governments to put traffickers behind bars and give them long-lasting sentences (in the past, some traffickers would get only a week or a few days and would go back to what they did, rather than some having over 20 years behind bars now). I have read each of the president (Gary Haugen) of IJM’s books, and adore their work, and I know someone who works for them in India as well. They bring freedom to so many lives each year! It is always exciting to see them come up in loads of news articles too.
Here are some ways you can help by purchasing from their online gift catalog (you can sign up to receive their mailed catalog too)! There are loads of others to choose from, so take a look through their list (I listed some more affordable gifts from their list, with e-card choices, but you can also have cards mailed to you, if you want to gift them to someone).
-Protect Widows & Orphans
-Free Innocent Prisoners from Jail
-Medical care for survivors of violence and sexual exploitation
-Aftercare package for a freed family
-Trafficking survivor aftercare package
-Group trauma counseling
-“Freedom training” for a family’s restoration
-Survivor Scholarship for primary education
-Fight Sex Trafficking
Please watch this video about what happens to Widows in parts of Africa and how IJM helps them.

My son is applying for an internship to work with them next year, Victoria. A friend of ours from church had one with them in their Washington D.C. headquarters and worked closely with Gary Haugen, but my son wants to be placed overseas. An effective organization, from what I can tell.

That’s amazing. That is EXACTLY the order of how the people I know in India with IJM did it: interned in DC & now in India for over a year (this might be their second year there now. . time flies). It’s amazing. Hope all goes well with your son’s journey!
