Modest Fashion Features #12

Again another busy week for me. The youth group that I’m a leader for had an exciting rock, paper, scissors tournament for the jr. highers. Tonight I’m going bowling with the sr. highers. Otherwise I’ve been preparing and practicing a speech on modesty and pornography that I’m giving in a few weeks to the ladies of my church, so a lot of my time has been going into that. my younger son was sick this week and threw up a couple times and had a fever the following day plus I homeschool my older son each day in the morning for a few hours. Thank you for the kind comments I received on all those things of my past. Please be patient. I do have an outfit entry planned for the middle of the week!! I hope you’ll like it. I’ll probably post a movie/music entry this week as well.

These outfits are all so gorgeous. I actually had a VERY hard time choosing a favorite between two of the outfits in particular. Usually I’d go with an outfit I myself would wear. Although I can’t find myself in a turban or wearing leopard printed stuff in an outfit, I thought it was the most unique one that I found this week.

  1. You have a good eye on style! That's why you stand out among the modest bloggers ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope that a lot of people will show up for your talk. The world needs to hear about purity. Last night, I had a very sad revelation from one of my husband's band members who is a Christian. He doesn't believe in sex before marriage and avoiding sexuality. It really saddens me that there is SO much difference between Christians. We see this difference a lot among friends and family who are supposedly Christian yet are so lazy. I keep praying that instead of being so down and discouraged when we hear these things from people we love and care for, that instead, we become stronger. Sigh.Anyway, The Fall doesn't have sexual content, which is great! The director did The Cell (which I didn't like), and that had a lot of bizarre sexuality in it. The Fall is rated R for violence. It does have a lot of violence, but it's so surreal and far from reality.

  2. The Cell was bad the first time I saw it back when I was not modest, and seeing it again after being married, I say it's a horrible movie. It looked good and everything, and the story was okay, so Rob and I recklessly bought the DVD when it was sold for $1.99. It was sold for that cheap for a good reason! I forgot that it had all that content in it. The Fall would've been nice for kids to watch except for the violence because it's a good make believe story telling type of movie with lots of fun characters and colors. Oh and about my parents having maids: Most middle class (and up) families in the Philippines have maids. After talking to my sister in law about what she does at home being a housewife, she says "I don't do any of the chores. I just shop for groceries, teach Abby (her 2 yo daughter), and make sure the bills are paid on time." I almost forgot how easy that was having a maid when I was a child. I have to do EVERYTHING here plus work, but I'm glad I'm not the bread winner AND I don't have children yet while I am still in school. The maids in the Philippines though are treated like they are part of the family and often times stay with the family for almost all their lives (they get to see their own family and do regular things on the weekends too), so they aren't really treated badly there. They get paid for what they do and get free meals. The only thing I don't like about having maids is that it makes the housewives lazy sometimes! We have to do everything here in the US as housewives. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what I said in my last comment! It really helps to know that we're not alone in this.

  3. Victoria, I wanted to ask if you a couple of questions. As you probably know from my blog my husband and I are being transfered to Virginia. Atlantic city is only a few hours from where we will be, and we thought we might take a weekend trip there for our anniversary in June. Since you live in New Jersey I was wondering if you had been there. If you have could you suggest any hotels that are nice, but not crazy expensive. Also while we occasionally play penny slots Tim and I are not much on gambling. So, I was wondering about other things to do. I am looking online, but I like to talk to people who have actually been to the places when I can.Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Yes I would love more info on Cape May and Wildwood! Thank you for letting me know about Atlantic City. About the only thing I really knew about it is that the original Monopoly was based on Atlantic city!!haha! That is why I like to talk to people who have been places. The websites only tell you the good stuff.
