West Goes East & "Where To Get It"

The flood waters are practically back to their normal area now. I didn’t know where to take photos for this wonderful outfit (been so looking forward to photograph it, as I’ve had it for over a month), but while driving around, my husband stopped here. I have photographed myself one other time in this location in a different season, but it’s been a while.

You know I love prairie dresses in general, but this one I really do love!! It is so comfortable and unique!
I think I’ll live in it. North-Eastern girls can rock the prairie look too, right?

The sun was right in my eyes and I make funny faces when I can’t see clearly, and I wasn’t really paying attention to the fact that I was pressing my remote when I did and wouldn’t wait to see if it was taken already.
I tried to recapture my hairstyle I did for an entry last year, but didn’t make it as high.
I have goosepimples/goosebumps because it was windy and isn’t very warm yet (so much so that as I type this it is snowing here ❤ ). Here’s a close up of what the material looks like and I wanted to show you the cute buttons!

Outfit details:
Vintage late 70s/early 80s dress – The Feathered Womb
Shoes – modcloth

My older son Leto wanted to be photographed (I took a few of him alone). Here’s a shot of the two of us together. My husband and younger son Micah were in the car hanging out together.

There is a new site out called Where To Get It. What you do is you sign up, post a photo of a person wearing an outfit you might like a lot (from a blog, a high fashion shoot, street styles, from anywhere), and you ask for help to find the item you like best in the outfit. People will respond and find either modern or vintage items that look similar to what you are looking for (jewelry, pants, shoes, shirts, etc). Sometimes you will even see the exact match of what the item is! It’s pretty fun. You also can help other people find their items! The more that you post or help people, the more points you also can receive.
Slanelle, who runs the site used a photo from today’s entry to show you all an example of how it works! If you’d like, you can add your own ideas to this entry too! Here’s a screen shot example! I have helped some people and have asked where to get a couple items myself if you’d like to check them out.

  1. This dress really is gorgeous, I did not know it was called a prairie dress. And what a brilliant idea with the website. I see myself using it quite a bit soon. But most importantly, thank you Victoria, for your suggestion, support and for even letting me know this morning. It really made my day. 🙂 If you had been in front of me I would have given you a big hug. :)LoveTashrin

  3. Your dresses are always so stunning. The detail on it is just beautiful and the heart buttons are adorable! I love how you paired it with t-strap shoes as it perfectly suits the dress. Your son has the exact shade of eyes as you!

  4. I just love your prairie dress! I'm so glad you've shown where there's a similar one on etsy, I'm definitely going to have to investigate 🙂 The way you've styled your hair really adds to the Little House on the Prairie vibe of this look, as does the location. Love it!xox,Ceehttp://cocoandvera.blogspot.com

  6. Yo do know how to rock this sort of dress. It is such a great colour – and those sweet little buttons are a lovely detail! I can see why you like the flood zones now – it just seemed odd without the explanation! 🙂

  11. Although I don't wear too much purple, that shade is really pretty. It looks good on you too! I also like that new website. What a great idea! I know fashion communities have that feature, but it's great to build a site just for that purpose. I've been so busy lately, but I thought I'd stop by your blog (first one and maybe only one I'll stop by!!!) and leave you a comment letting you know I'm still alive. Hehe. I hope that you got my letter. As you can see, I haven't even gotten a chance to buy pretty stationary, so I just got some computer paper :-/ I'll hopefully post once a week at least, and I'm thinking of putting up a post later. I can't wait to hear about your talk!About Jesus clothing, yeah… it's ironic how I was even asked to do this right after I talked to you about how ridiculous some Christian clothing sites are. Their products aren't too bad really. It's just for some reason they have immodest clothes on the models that aren't currently for sale. I couldn't post the other pictures of the models of course, so I just took photos of myself with the most modest dress that also fits my style. Love,Rachel
