Modest Fashion Features #15 + Japan

My husband and I have been following a lot of the news on Japan’s recent disaster. We are quite heartbroken for the families who have lost loved ones. If you haven’t or would like to donate (or give more), I recommend going through World Vision or Samaritan’s Purse who both work very hard to supply and give to the needy while cleaning up and restoring lives that are lost (and giving them new homes as well and temporary shelters until that time). These organizations both were huge helps during the earthquake in Haiti (and are still helping and working there now) and the other earthquakes that took place in South American countries, etc. A lot of people have been at a loss for words of this matter, or confused why it happened. I ask that you do question and pray about your concerns and fears and “why” thoughts to God. Pray or ask how you can be more of help to them as well. It really is great that a lot of bloggers have been talking about it and helping in some way. Sometimes I feel people in the blogging world are too into their own lives and the things they own that they try to block it out and say “well someone else will help them.” . . no – you can help! please do!
I’m getting ready to visit one of my very very best friends Lynsie who lives 3 hours south from me in NJ and I miss her so much. She co-owns/runs Ruby-Eyed Okapi with me. I’ll be taking lots of photos.

  1. What a treat to wake up Sat. morning and get to see one of my favorite posts. Really enjoyed reading this. Myra is my favorite although I love all of their modesty. Have a great weekend!! Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo

  2. i really love the ministry of samaritans purse. our church is always the official drop station for operation christmas child. i just love their vision. i actually hadn't heard about anything they had going for japan. i need to go check it out! and yes, i love this feature of yours! i think it's my favorite 🙂

  3. I think in a way it is hard to choose which current events to mention on a style blog. If I go off topic to acknowledge devastating natural disasters should I also voice my political thoughts? I guess most the time I don't speak about current affairs on my blog because that is not what Diversions is about. But with events in Japan unfolding I had no taste for showing anyone what I wore. The magnitude overrode my usual qualms. Awesome selection as always 🙂

  4. I love your picks this 'round! But then you have great taste :)I do appreciate that you took the time to mention Japan in a productive way, you gave tools to help others donate, and gave suggestions on what to do. I have been listening to npr non-stop and it is very sad to hear about everything those poor human beings are going through. There really are no words, but yours are of encouragement and I think that is the best approach.
